Travis Roberson

Dr. Travis Roberson began his turfgrass career in 2013 at a premier Virginia golf course, where exposure to Virginia Tech field research sparked his passion for turfgrass science. Travis earned his B.S. (2016) and M.S. (2019) from Virginia Tech before working as an assistant superintendent, bridging academic knowledge with practical application.

In September 2023, Travis joined Syngenta as Field Technical Manager for the Digital Platform team while pursuing his doctorate. He completed his Ph.D. in March 2025, specializing in drone technology, in-ground sensors, irrigation assessment, and ultradwarf bermudagrass winter management. Today, he leverages his expertise to advance precision turfgrass management through innovative digital solutions.
