Tim Koen

Tim Koen, P.Eng is a Senior Water Resource Engineer at Aquafor Beech Limited. Tim has worked on golf course related projects throughout Ontario and Canada, over the past 18+ years. Specific project expertise includes; watercourse erosion and restoration, irrigation pond design, surface and subsurface drainage design, stormwater capture and re-use, floodplain analysis and modification, golf course renovation engineering, permits to take water, capital planning, master plans, construction and project management and regulatory permitting.

Session Summary

In this session, Jared Reinders, Mike Kuipery and Tim Koen will share practical insights into how Ontario golf course superintendents can work successfully in and around regulated watercourses. Drawing on years of experience collaborating with Conservation Authorities, engineers, and course managers, they will clarify the permitting process, explain the relationship with Conservation Authorities, and outline how to plan maintenance or construction work to minimize or avoid emergencies.

Attendees will learn how to identify when they need to call their regulatory body, understand the priorities of regulators, and hear about current design/construction trends in the creek restoration industry.
