Mike Kuipery

Mike Kuipery is the Construction Manager at R&M Construction. He began his career with the company 20+ years ago as a general labourer, advancing through roles as a heavy equipment operator, site supervisor, and eventually construction manager. With over 20 years of experience in the waterway restoration industry, Mike brings extensive technical knowledge and practical insight to every project. Mike’s experience allows him to take a creative approach to construction challenges and plays an active role in the early stages of project planning—providing valuable input on methods that ensure cost-effective project delivery. He works closely with engineers, clients, and R&M field staff to ensure each project is executed on schedule, within budget, and in full compliance with environmental standards.

Session Summary

In this session, Jared Reinders, Mike Kuipery and Tim Koen will share practical insights into how Ontario golf course superintendents can work successfully in and around regulated watercourses. Drawing on years of experience collaborating with Conservation Authorities, engineers, and course managers, they will clarify the permitting process, explain the relationship with Conservation Authorities, and outline how to plan maintenance or construction work to minimize or avoid emergencies.

Attendees will learn how to identify when they need to call their regulatory body, understand the priorities of regulators, and hear about current design/construction trends in the creek restoration industry.
