Matt Legg

Matthew Legg is the Technical Lead for Syngenta Professional Solutions, based out of Toronto, ON, where he leads all technical outreach, advanced troubleshooting, and product development on behalf of Syngenta Canada.  Before joining Syngenta, Matthew worked in a golf course setting, serving in the capacity of Director of Agronomy within the private golf sector.

Academically, Matthew holds a diploma in turfgrass management from the University of Guelph, along with his Bachelor of Science, in Turfgrass Science, from the Pennsylvania State University.

Outside of Syngenta Matthew provides educational outreach as a seasonal lecturer of Turfgrass Entomology, at the University of Guelph, where he educates up and coming Turf Managers about the biology, ecology and management of turf and landscape insect pests.

This session will explore a recent study on Fairway Dollar Spot & Preventative Strategies

Trial Overview:

We evaluated eight different commercialized products offering 21+ day control from multiple manufacturers, representing the majority of options currently available following the loss of tebuconazole. The trial assessed product performance against dollar spot from June through October under a 21-day application interval on a mixed stand of creeping bentgrass and poa annua.

 

Key Trial Parameters:

- Multiple rate comparisons (low and high label rates) to evaluate dose-response relationships

- Water carrier volume comparison (400 L/ha vs. 800 L/ha) to determine impact on product efficacy

- Mode of action (MOA) analysis explaining how each chemistry interacts with the pathogen and its fungistatic mechanisms
