Grant Murphy

Currently serving as Superintendent at Barrie Country Club, Grant began his career in turf management in 1988 as part of the grow-in team at Beacon Hall. He spent 16 years as Associate Superintendent at The National Golf Club, where he refined his expertise in course management and leadership. Over the years, he has spoken extensively across North America on topics such as teamwork, culture development, and high-level performance, presenting at venues including the Canadian National Conference, the Golf Industry Show, regional turf conferences, and Greenstart Academy. He is a proud member of the OGSA, a committed Christian, and a devoted father of six and husband to one.

This seminar covers the essential stages involved in developing a successful irrigation renovation project. Participants will learn about contractor and consultant hiring, product and supplier selection, project phasing and scheduling, budgeting, and design considerations.

The seminar also outlines critical elements during installation, including quality control, order of operations, communication with the pro shop and contractor, and managing contractor daily scheduling priorities while accommodating club events.

Finally, the seminar highlights important post-construction considerations such as identifying and responding to deficiencies, ensuring clarity of product warranties and protocols, and accessing resources to effectively operate and understand the new irrigation system.
